Jetour X90 Plus (Jetour X90 Plus)

2026-09-27 03:10:00

The Jetour X90 Plus is a mid-to-large D-segment SUV launched by Chery Holding Group’s JETOUR sub-brand. Serving as the flagship model line dedicated to "joyful travel for large families", it bridges the gap within the "X90 family". Built on a pragmatic strategy of "generous space, strong performance, and robust safety", it targets multi-member households and commercial users seeking a versatile petrol SUV. The official retail price has consistently stayed within the RM100,900 to RM142,900 bracket, and the model is exported globally as the Jetour X90 Plus, serving as a high-value, high-utility contender for passenger transport and cargo logistics across major export markets in Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.

Model Overview

The defining hallmark of the Jetour X90 Plus lies in its "mobile executive flat" cabin space. Dimensionally, it boasts a substantial B+ to near C-segment footprint, offering three versatile seating layouts: 5-seater, 6-seater (2+2+2), and 7-seater (2+3+2), strategically positioned to rival similarly priced compact and mid-size five-seater SUVs.

The exterior adopts the signature "Huicheng Qiaochu" design language, featuring an imposing vertical waterfall front grille paired with full-width LED taillights. Key highlights centre around its generous 2,850 mm wheelbase, a 2.21-metre flat-folding double-bed-sized boot, a "maternal and infant-grade health cabin" certified in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Chery’s flagship Kunpeng 1.6TGDI and 2.0TGDI high-output turbo petrol engines. To cater to diverse commercial fleet inspection and multi-member family needs, the lineup comprises a comprehensive variant matrix including the Standard, Champion, and export-specific Prestige editions.

Development History

Upmarket Transition and Debut of the Plus (2021–2022): In September 2021, the Jetour X90 Plus officially debuted as an upgraded evolution of the standard X90. The new model adopted a bolder "five horizontal bar" shield grille and introduced standard 12.3-inch dual floating screens across the range. In 2022, the lineup expanded with the flagship Kunpeng 2.0TGDI variant, successfully penetrating the core domestic family SUV segment above RM130,000 via its distinct value proposition of high power output and class-above cabin space.

Health Cabin Focus and Global Expansion (2023–2024): The model line entered a phase of sustained growth. Jetour placed greater emphasis on in-cabin well-being, earning a 5-star rating in the China Automotive Health Index through the integration of antibacterial materials and an advanced cabin air purification system. Concurrently, as a prominent, full-sized Chinese petrol SUV, the Jetour X90 Plus expanded aggressively across high-demand, large-family export markets in the Middle East and Latin America.

Champion Edition Facelift and Latest Lineup (2025–2026): Entering its latest product cycle, the 2026 Jetour X90 Plus and 2026 Champion Edition were officially launched. The updated models received digital aesthetic refinements to the waterfall-style grille, an upgraded 50W wireless fast-charging pad, and a sleek electronic gear selector on the centre console. Retaining its solid, heavy-duty chassis underpinnings, the model continues to offer first-hand non-commercial owners peace of mind with a lifetime vehicle warranty.

Market Performance

The Jetour X90 Plus has capitalised effectively on a clever "cross-segment value" positioning within the global SUV landscape. In its domestic market, it rivals contenders such as the Geely Haoyue L and GAC Trumpchi GS8, appealing strongly to budget-conscious commercial trade operators and large families who require versatile flat-folding rear cargo capability and robust high-speed overtaking power. In export markets, thanks to its 6/7-seater capacity that effortlessly swallows multiple 28-inch luggage cases, the vehicle is frequently deployed as executive corporate transport and remains a preferred choice for long-distance overland family travel in markets like Saudi Arabia and Chile, cementing a reputation for high durability and heavy-duty load hauling.

Core Technology

In terms of mechanical engineering and spatial architecture, the Jetour X90 Plus draws deeply from Chery's flagship technical arsenal:

Dimensions and Flat-Bed Cabin Space: The SUV measures 4,858 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, and 1,780 mm tall, underpinned by an expansive 2,850 mm wheelbase. The second-row seats feature a 25° to 41° recline adjustment. With the rear seats folded completely flat, the boot transforms into an expansive 2.21-metre flat-bed sleeping deck with a cavernous luggage capacity of up to 1,130 litres. Ride and handling are supported by standard MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear independent setup across the range.

Kunpeng Flagship High-Output Petrol Powertrains:

1.6TGDI Kunpeng Turbo: The core variant is powered by Chery's Kunpeng 1.6-litre direct-injected turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 145 kW (197 PS) and 290 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7DCT).

2.0TGDI Kunpeng High-Performance Flagship: The high-spec and export heavy-duty variants feature the award-winning Kunpeng 2.0TGDI turbo engine, recognized among the "China Heart" Top Ten Engines. It delivers an impressive 187 kW (254 PS) and a hefty 390 Nm of peak torque. Boasting strong low-end tractive pull, it provides effortless acceleration even under a full load of 7 passengers and uphill driving at high altitudes, while keeping combined fuel consumption at a sensible 8.1 litres per 100 km.

Maternal and Infant-Grade Smart Health Cabin: Higher-spec trims feature dual 12.3-inch integrated floating HD digital screens, with export units offering native wired and wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity. The cabin incorporates 118 eco-friendly, soft-touch materials throughout. Standard equipment across all variants includes a CN95-certified cabin air filtration system, PM2.5 real-time monitoring, and a continuous negative-ion fresh air purification system, with interior volatile organic compounds and odour levels carefully managed.

Submarine-Grade High-Rigidity Cage Body and Safety Suite: The body structure incorporates high-strength steel with tensile strength up to 1,500 MPa, with high-strength steel accounting for over 75% of the body-in-white, complemented by 6 standard airbags. The active safety suite integrates Level 2 ADAS features, including Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), alongside a 360-degree HD surround-view monitor with a 180-degree transparent chassis display.

Future Plans

As the global family SUV market shifts towards electrification, low-carbon mobility, and integrated AI-driven software architectures, the Jetour X90 Plus is set to evolve along several key pathways: accelerating the rollout of Kunpeng Super Hybrid (C-DM) and dedicated hybrid variants across export hubs to substantially reduce urban commuting fuel costs; deploying multilingual AI voice recognition ecosystems via over-the-air (FOTA) updates to optimise battery and powertrain management algorithms under extreme climatic conditions; and further expanding the "Travel+" ecosystem with bespoke factory accessories, such as custom-fit inflatable mattresses and multifunctional tailgate camping illumination kits.
